Fremantle City Football Club

OUR HISTORY

Two Historic Clubs,
One Unified Future

Established in 2014 as a collaborative effort between East Fremantle Tricolore and Fremantle United Soccer Club, Fremantle City FC continues a proud tradition in Western Australian football. Both founding clubs are celebrated for their strong community ties and their commitment to developing players who have gone on to represent both club and country at the highest levels.

East Fremantle Tricolore: Pioneers Since 1953

Founded in 1953, East Fremantle Tricolore is a pioneer of football in WA. The name “Tricolore” reflects the three colors linked to the club’s Italian heritage, which were prominently displayed on the emblem and playing shirts. Wauhop Park in East Fremantle was the club’s home ground, however, it has recently been upgraded and houses our girls’ and women’s teams. East Fremantle Tricolore boasts a proud history as one of the most successful state league clubs, having clinched Division 1 titles in 1963, 1964, 1965, 1970, and 1972. The club’s success also extends to the D’Orsogna Cup, which they won in 1961, 1962, 1968, 1972, 1975, 1976, and 1979.

Building champions since 1979

Founded in 1979, Fremantle United gained recognition as one of WA’s most successful junior and senior amateur clubs. Based at Hilton Park in Beaconsfield, the club achieved numerous Amateur League Championships and Cup titles throughout the 1980s, 1990s, and 2000s. Fremantle United is particularly known for its distinctive black and white stripes and for establishing strong junior pathways that enable players to compete at the highest levels of Australian soccer, including the former National Soccer League and the A-League.
